The current ice age seems to be coming to a close. We have seen temperatures steadily rise this past year and tomorrow looks to be a balmy 25 in the early morning. It is forecast to be quite warm later in the morning with a high well into the 40's.

In order to give everyone some extra time to find your gatoraide and light jackets, we will be starting all sites at 10:00am.

Saturday, December 3rd. Thank goodness White Rock Marathon is tomorrow and not today, kind of warm and muggy out. Not very good running weather.

Unfortunately, this is also not very good painting weather. What does that mean? It means we have to close one site. Just one, the loneliest number site. All other sites are open. Check the last post for rain days. You know, bring extra shoes, maybe a rain coat, add a smile or two, and all is well. I will be out in Greenway, if you are heading to one of those sites, I like chocolate covered doughnuts, a good glazed will pass in a pinch.

Oh the suspense. What site is closed?

941 Cannon is cancelled. Feel free to say canceled instead.

All other sites are open. Could be sloppy, the fun-o-meter will probably be determined by each individual, so have a ball, at least its not cold.

Fall Build 2011

Okay, here is the deal, we pretty much work in anything. I mean it. If it is raining, we still work. Hot, even this summer hot, yep, we worked. Cold, wear a jacket and come on out.

So, unless otherwise noted, we are open. Rain, bring an extra pair of shoes to change into at the end of the day. We will stand by for lightning in the area until it passes over, and then back to work.

If you get lucky and have perfect weather, send all compliments to our weather coordinator, Glenn Bugay, c/o Trinity Habitat of course.

If the weather is not so perfect, send all complaints to Dallas Habitat for Humanity. Oh, send it with love so they know we are just funning with them.

If it is in the low 30's in the early am, but suppossed to warm up, feel free to show up at 9 or 10. We will be there unless we post something to the contrary.

Paint only days on Preserve a Home sites can occasionally get bumped. We will post those ASAP each morning, usually by 6:30am.

Finally, some heat. What a coooolllllld winter we had. All scheduled sites are open, and hot. Be prepared for the heat, drink lots of fluids, start the night before.

If you have a sports bottle with a lid, put your name on it and bring it along. You tend to drink more out of a bottle than a little cone paper cup.

Sports shirts will dry quickly and are more comfortable to wear when they are wet.

May 11, 2011 update

Wow, nice storm blowing through DFW. We really need the rain. The forecast is favorable for work the rest of the week, so, we are on. All scheduled sites are open. If lightning starts up, we will stop working until it passes by.

It will be muddy, bring a spare pair of shoes to change into. With any luck, it will be really muggy after the rain, that way you won't get chilled.

Week of February 8th

Looks like more nastiness is coming to town. So, here is the plan.

We are going to make a preemptive strike and close 1729 Greenfield for Wednesday and Thursday. We will be at Greenfield on Friday and Saturday with some sunscreen and short sleeve shirts.

The work on Ave E (Wed-Fri) is still a go since it is indoors and has windows. We may have to leave early if the white stuff starts to accumulate, but the plan is to work.

Just so you know, Habitat follows Fort Worth ISD for closings or late starts. If they close the district, Habitat will closed. Late start, well, you got it, right?

Week of February 1st, weather

Looks like we are in for a cold week. So to make things easier, we have gone ahead and cancelled multiple events.
The Tuesday project managers meeting is cancelled.
Plating on Evangeline is cancelled for Wednesday.
The Thursday night Cornerstone Class is cancelled.

We will evaluate the weather and make decisions on other activities as the week progresses.

Please note, the Super Bowl is not cancelled. I talked with the appropriate people and assured them that we would have better weather by game day. Keep your fingers crossed that I am right. It would be really embarrassing to not be able to play because of my mistake.
